Afternoon Tea with Fr Paul Bigirwa

Amount raised
£531.44

On Saturday 27th August, GETA and the parishioners of St Margaret's parish warmly welcomed our Patron Fr Paul Bigirwa to join us for a late summer afternoon tea. This was the first time Fr Paul had been back to visit since making such an impact on his initial placement here two years ago.

Despite the bank holiday weekend, there was an excellent turnout for this event, and the GETA team did their own turn at the Great British Bake Off with selections of chocolate cakes, victoria sponges, and cupcakes to name but a few. But not forgetting special thanks to our kind sponsors Harris + Hoole for providing fresh Ethiopian coffee and delicious chocolate brownies. The raffle with prizes of Prosecco, wine, chocolates & games were very well received and even our new parish priest Canon Peter Newby was a lucky winner!

During the afternoon Fr Paul provided us with an update on progress at St Theresa's school and the potential for the future of the school with the continued support of donations made to GETA.

It was a pleasure to see him again, looking so well, especially after a recent hospital admission. We are pleased to say that the afternoon tea, subsequent cakes sales at the mustard seed evening and 10:30 mass raised the impressive sum of £531.44. Thank you to all who attended and helped to raise such a great amount for this very worthwhile cause.
