GETA – Give Education to All

GETA has not been able to have any fundraising events to support St Theresa’s School in Uganda for the last few months. The school has been closed due to the pandemic and the teachers have been sent home with no pay and no government support.

Our Chairman, David Rose, normally takes part in two runs – the Salomon Richmond half-marathon (March), and the Cabbage Patch 10-mile run (October), but both have been cancelled. However David ran his own half-marathon on 22nd September which he completed in a time of 2h 0m 37s.

After finishing the event David commented “I was a little apprehensive at first as there hasn’t been the opportunity to really train beyond my regular weekly 3-mile runs, but in the end I was extremely pleased with my time as I had posted 2h 10m as my target. Distance running is a combination of physical stamina and mental determination, and I knew that if I kept in mind the plight of the children God would give me the strength to succeed.

Congratulations to David – and we present him with two virtual medals in recognition of his achievement! [Pinched from previous runs!]

Your donations will boost our current total and help us to provide much-needed food for many of the children plus support fees once they are back at school, and allow us to make a contribution to the teachers’ salaries to help make ends meet until they are paid again.

To donate please click the ‘donate’ button, or send cash / cheque / CAF Bank Vouchers, etc. to the registered address: GETA, c/o 57 Court Way Twickenham, TW2 7SA. Please sign up to Gift Aid your donation if you are an eligible taxpayer.

Many thanks for your continuing support.
