GETA was founded to support the work of Fr Paul Bigirwa in Uganda, where he helped to set up St Theresa’s Nursery and Primary School.. Fr Paul is currently in the UK until 6th September on a “working visit” to St Monica's Church in Palmers Green. As always, Fr Paul is an inspiration wherever he goes and the Faith Sharing Groups at St Monica's are pleased to have the opportunity to support Fr Paul's work through GETA.
In the Igayazo-Kibaale district, as in many parts of Uganda, education is held in high esteem. Unfortunately, education is not always accessible to these communities on a regular and continuing basis due the costs being borne by parents with limited incomes. Your donations will help fund the education of orpahaned and underprivileged children through the good work of Fr Paul and staff at the school.
St Monica's is planning two events to promote Fr Paul's work. These will be in the Church / Parish Centre:
- Coffee Morning for GETA- Sunday 14th August Organised by Faith-Sharing groups at St Monica's. GETA will co-ordinate a visit by St Margaret's Parishioners to this event. Please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan to go and would like to join our “car-sharing” service as a driver or passenger.
- Farewell Coffee Morning for Fr Paul- Tuesday 6th September: Taking place in the Large Hall. All are warmly invited to attend.
Please go to http://www.stmonica.co.uk/ to check out the location and transport options. You are, of course, welcome to visit St Monica's at other times to share your support with Fr Paul personally.
There is a dedicated donation page accessed at https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/5209 (Please Gift Aid your donation if you are an eligible taxpayer as it allows GETA, on behalf of Fr Paul, to claim 25% from HMRC at no cost to you).
St Monica's looks forward to welcoming anyone who has the opportunity to visit.
