An independent report from an experienced charity practitioner commissioned by GETA in April 2019 noted that St Theresa’s is a successful school with leavers’ examination results increasing each year, making it the most popular school in the diocese, and consequently heavily oversubscribed. It also emphasised the benefits our financial support has brought to the school community and concluded:
“...I was impressed by what I saw and would recommend you continue with your support.”
In 2012, Giving Tuesday started as a simple way to encourage people everywhere—and make it easier for them—to do good by donating time, expertise or money to causes they were passionate about. Now, Giving Tuesday has become a global phenomenon. Inspiring people in communities around the world to help in any way they can. You were inspired and we were inspired. So this December we’re making every Tuesday a Giving Tuesday. We’re inviting everyone to consider how much they can help someone in their community or halfway around the world.
Please check back in soon for our fundraising activities that are planned for 2020.
David completed the Cabbage Patch run in a creditable time of 1h 35m 01s in ideal running conditions. As a result of our supporters' generosity - i.e. you - we have raised a a fantastic £1,025 to go towards funding the boys' dormitory; approximately £250 due from Gift Aid further boosts this total. Many thanks to all who sponsored David.

This was the route Rachel and I ran - a wet and windy event with a couple of treacherously muddy bits - but very enjoyable nevertheless and a very good time of 1h 1m 48secs despite the conditions. Looking forward to same again next year!
So far, Rachel and I have raised a fantastic £260 for GETA, and with YOUR help can get that over the £300 target.
The Team has been working hard to continue, with your help, the development of Fr Paul’s school, St Theresa’s, in Uganda. Following the successful construction of the water bore-hole, our latest funded project was the erection of a secure perimeter fence around the whole complex to ensure the safety of the school community. Additionally, a Safeguarding Policy agreed between GETA and the school was implemented in March 2019.
In April 2019 GETA commissioned an independent charity to visit St Theresa’s and submit a report. Feedback comments included:
GETA has since 2014 supported the growth of St Theresa's school, Uganda by providing financial assistance with the installation of a borehole well, assistance with costs for children to attend the school and many other projects. The latest project was to provide security fencing around the perimeter of the school which was previously unsecured.
The GETA Trustees are seeking a volunteer to join the existing team to lead on growing its fundraising base through a range of opportunities including specific community events, online platforms, corporate sponsors, grant-funding charities and foundations, crowdfunding and legacy / will donations.
Since 2014 we have funded the construction of teaching and office spaces, furnished classrooms, provided staffing, teaching materials, a minibus and school meals for day and boarding students.
Woke up this morning and the weather didn't look good - heavy rain was forecast, but fortunately it cleared by start time - 10.00a.m. - and the run was going very well until the final mile when it might have been better opting for swimming gear as we were hit by a torrential downpour. Nevertheless, we crossed the finishing line in a creditable time of 1h 39m 25s - a PB for Rachel. Thank you for all your support, and your donations have gone a long way to helping us reach our target.
